URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...MAJOR WINTER STORM WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE MID SOUTH TONIGHT...

.ARCTIC AIR WILL REMAIN IN PLACE ACROSS THE MID SOUTH TODAY.
MEANWHILE...AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL TRACK ALONG THE NORTHERN
GULF COAST SPREADING PRECIPITATION INTO THE MIDSOUTH. A
PROGRESSIVELY SOUTHWARD CHANGEOVER FROM RAIN TO FREEZING RAIN...
SLEET AND SNOW WILL OCCUR TONIGHT.

NORTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH WILL LIKELY
ACCOMPANY THE WINTRY PRECIPITATION. THESE WINDS COULD STRESS ICY
TREE BRANCHES AND POWER LINES CAUSING POWER OUTAGES. WIND CHILLS
WILL DROP INTO THE TEENS ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA TODAY AND INTO
THE SINGLE DIGITS TONIGHT.

TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW FREEZING OVER MUCH OF THE AREA
THROUGH THE WEEKEND. AS A RESULT...A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SNOW AND
ICE COVERED ROADS MAY OCCUR.

OF AN INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION ALONG A LINE FROM THE MEMPHIS
METRO AREA TO SAVANNAH TENNESSEE. IN ADDITION TO THE ICE...SNOW
AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

* WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH THIS
EVENING. LIGHT SNOW MAY OCCUR LATE TONIGHT.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
COMBINED WITH GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS...THESE ICE ACCUMULATIONS
MAY CREATE STRESS ON TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES. SNOW AND SLEET
ACCUMULATIONS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.
